Falconry…

Is the Art of hunting with hawks, falcons, and in some rare settings, eagles. This was once considered a noble pursuit during the middle ages, and laws dictated which birds could be carried by the nobles of various ranks; it was a matter of great prestige and expense.

Falconry dates back to the ancient Sumerian Empire, and was known to the ancient Chinese, Persians, and Egyptians. The Art seems to have spread from Asia to the Middle East, and thence to Western Europe.

The Kazakhs of what was once called Mongolia still train and hunt with the mighty Berkut Golden Eagles as they have done for hundreds of years, and private falconers throughout the rest of the world continue the historical traditions of Falconry to this day, choosing to work with many species of hawks and falcons in the pursuit of various quarry.

Emrys Raptor offers demonstrations, educational outreach and real, hands-on courses to the general public, both in classroom settings, and in the field. It is our goal to inspire people to appreciate and admire these beautiful creatures. We look forward to giving you a learning experience enriched with the historical traditions of the Art, while sharing in the making of memories that will last a lifetime.
